The goal oriented work of the company is largely client sponsored and involves research and development in pharmaceutical drug delivery formulations; non-medical controlled release formulations; biomaterials design and synthesis; and polymer processing methods. Many technologies are available for licensing.

COMPANY HISTORY - BIOTEK was founded in 1980. Utilizing over 15 years of prior experience in the medical products area as well as specialized familiarity with medical plastics, biot27's leadership position in the field of controlled delivery of medical and non-medical compounds was quickly established. The company is unique in holding proprietary positions in a very broad array of pharmaceutical formulation technologies for injectable, implantable, transdermal, and transmucosal drug delivery. Different formulations utilizing every one of these modes of delivery have been tested in humans in FDA-approved studies. Much of this success is derived from combining a full understanding of pharmacokinetic principles with expertise in the selection and processing of suitable polymeric vehicles. Inevitably, this combination of skills has led to innovation in other medical areas. Additionally, materials for the release of non-medical products, such as insect repellents, have been developed.

COMPANY FACILITIES - BIOTEK has facilities at two locations, giving a total of approximately 8,000 square feet of space for offices, a class 100 clean room, laboratories with a broad array of specialized processing equipment, and a facility for small animal housing. biot27's location within the greater Boston area ensures rapid access to product and service suppliers and easy access for clients who wish to visit.
